Our city is in the worst shape it has been in for decades. Rates have exploded under the radical left council’s mismanagement and contempt for ratepayers. Businesses are being crushed by years of poor governance and anti-business extremism.

Instead of focusing on the essentials that keep a city alive, the council has waged an ideological war on ordinary Wellingtonians — prioritising pedestrianisation, cycle lanes, speed restrictions, and unnecessary infrastructure changes that harm residents and businesses. The removal of car parks has caused chaos, especially for our vital hospitality sector. Shops are closing, jobs are disappearing, and the heart of our city is being deliberately destroyed.

In the past year alone, residential rates have surged by over 5%. Despite record debt and declining services, the council continues to treat Wellington property owners as an unlimited cash cow to be milked dry. Arrogance and ideological contempt have replaced any pretence of accountability.

We need a council that gets back to basics – prioritising essential services, controlling spending, and upholding financial responsibility. Ratepayers should not be funding ideological pet projects. Instead, we must champion commerce, entrepreneurship, and common-sense governance – the true foundations of a thriving city.
